These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Verse Gardens governing your use of the Verse Gardens mobile application and related services (together, the "App"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

The App is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service and Google Play's policies. If these Terms conflict with Google Play's required terms for purchases, Google Play's terms govern the purchase.

1. The App

Verse Gardens provides a daily Bible verse, prayer tools (including an optional on-device voice-prayer transcription), bookmarks, a streak/"garden" habit tracker, reminders, and optional premium features ("Plus"). The App has no account or login and stores most of your content on your device (see the Privacy Policy).

2. License to use the App

Subject to these Terms, Verse Gardens grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to install and use one copy of the App on Android devices you own or control, for your personal, non-commercial use. We reserve all rights not expressly granted.

3. You must not

You agree not to, and not to allow anyone else to:

  • copy, modify, translate, or create derivative works of the App, except to the limited extent permitted by applicable law;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, or attempt to derive its source code, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by law;
  • rent, lease, sell, sublicense, or distribute the App;
  • circumvent, disable, or interfere with security, ad-serving, entitlement/subscription checks, or other features of the App;
  • use the App to break any law, infringe anyone's rights, or for any abusive, harmful, or fraudulent purpose;
  • remove or alter any proprietary notices, or misuse the Verse Gardens name or logos.

4. Not professional or pastoral advice (important)

Verse Gardens is a devotional and inspirational app. It is not a substitute for professional advice and does not provide medical, psychological, legal, financial, or professional pastoral counseling services. It does not create a counseling, clergy-penitent, therapeutic, or other professional relationship. If you are in crisis or need help, contact a qualified professional or your local emergency services. You rely on the App's content at your own discretion.

5. Subscriptions, billing, trials, and cancellation

Verse Gardens is free to use with ads. Verse Gardens Plus ("Plus") is an optional auto-renewing subscription that unlocks premium features (such as additional themes, additional background-music tracks, removal of ads, lock-screen verse, and prayer export). A one-time Lifetime option may be offered at times.

Purchases are processed through Google Play Billing, and entitlements are managed by RevenueCat. Verse Gardens does not receive or store your payment-card details, payment is handled by Google Play.

5.1 Auto-renewal and pricing

  • A Plus subscription is auto-renewing: it renews automatically for the same period (monthly or annual) at the then-current price until you cancel.
  • Your account is charged through Google Play at confirmation of purchase and at the start of each renewal period.
  • Current prices and any savings framing are shown in the App at the point of purchase. Prices may vary by country, taxes, and promotions, and we may change prices prospectively (existing subscribers are handled per Google Play / RevenueCat rules, and we may grandfather your current price).

5.2 Free trial and reverse-trial

  • We may offer a free trial (for example, 14 days) of Plus. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the subscription begins and you are charged for the first period automatically. The App provides a plain trial timeline and a cancellation reminder; you can cancel anytime before billing starts.
  • We may also offer a no-card "reverse-trial" (for example, 7 days of Plus granted after you dismiss the paywall). The reverse-trial requires no payment method, does not auto-charge, is granted at most once, and simply reverts to the free version when it ends. Starting a paid subscription or paid trial ends any active reverse-trial.
  • Trial length and availability may vary by user, promotion, and region, and unused trial time is forfeited when you subscribe.

5.3 Managing and cancelling

  • You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in Google Play → Subscriptions (the App provides a link). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep Plus until then.
  • If a renewal payment fails, Google Play may apply a grace period and/or account hold during which we may prompt you to update your payment to keep or restore Plus. Nothing in your data is lost during this process.

5.4 Refunds

  • Subscriptions and purchases are non-refundable except as required by law or by Google Play's refund policy. Refund requests are handled by Google Play under its policies; Verse Gardens generally cannot issue refunds directly for Google Play purchases.
  • Where you have a statutory right of withdrawal (for example, certain consumers in the EEA/UK), applicable law and Google Play's process govern.

6. Ads

The free version of the App is supported by ads (via Google AdMob). Plus subscribers see no ads. Where required, the App presents a consent prompt (Google UMP) before serving personalized ads. Ad behavior and your choices are described in the Privacy Policy.

7. Your content

Content you create in the App (prayer titles, prayer text, voice-prayer transcripts, reflection notes, bookmarks) is yours. It is stored on your device and, by design, Verse Gardens does not receive or have access to it (see the Privacy Policy). You are responsible for your content and for keeping your own backups (the App offers export and relies on Android Auto Backup to your own Google account). Because we do not hold your content, we are not responsible for any loss of on-device data (for example, from uninstalling without a backup, device loss, or device failure).

8. Bible text and intellectual property

  • The Bible text in the App is the King James Version (KJV), which is in the public domain.
  • All other parts of the App, including its source code (subject to Section 11), design, UI, "garden" and bloom artwork, illustrations, themes, sounds, copy, and the "Verse Gardens" name and logos, are owned by Verse Gardens or its licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. Except for the limited license in Section 2, you receive no rights in them.
  • Third-party software components are licensed under their own terms; see Third-Party Notices and License.

9. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, accuracy, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that voice transcription, reminders, alarms, or backups will be accurate, timely, or reliable. You use the App at your own risk. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of the above may not apply to you.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VERSE GARDENS AND ITS LICENSORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PRAYERS, PROFITS, GOODWILL, OR DEVOTIONAL CONTENT, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE APP, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VERSE GARDENS' TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE APP WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (a) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID VERSE GARDENS (VIA GOOGLE PLAY) FOR THE APP IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (b) USD $20. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you; nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Ownership and third-party software

The App, including its source code, brand, name, logos, artwork, and all other assets, is proprietary to Verse Gardens, and all rights are reserved. The App uses certain third-party software components, each licensed under its own terms (see Third-Party Notices); your use of those components is governed by their respective licenses. 12. Updates and availability

We may update, change, or discontinue the App or any feature at any time. Updates may be delivered through Google Play. We may stop supporting older versions or end the App entirely. Some features depend on your device, OS version, permissions, and connectivity.

13. Termination

These Terms apply while you use the App. We may suspend or terminate your license if you breach these Terms or misuse the App. You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. Sections that by their nature should survive (including Sections 7–11, 14, and 15) survive termination. Termination does not by itself entitle you to a refund (see Section 5.4).

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of [Your jurisdiction], without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts located in [Your jurisdiction] will have jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence give you additional rights or a different venue. Nothing here deprives you of the protection of mandatory provisions of your local law.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.

16. Miscellaneous

These Terms (with the Privacy Policy and the notices referenced) are the entire agreement between you and Verse Gardens regarding the App. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Google is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms to the extent they concern your use of the App on Google Play, and may enforce them against you.
