The Serenity Prayer

Prayed in recovery rooms and quiet kitchens alike, the Serenity Prayer asks God for the grace to accept, the courage to act, and the wisdom to tell the two apart. Here is its familiar form.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Help me to live one day at a time, to accept hardship as a path to peace, and to trust that you will make all things right if I surrender to your will. Amen.

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
