The Prayer of Jabez

Tucked into a long list of names, Jabez cried out a short, bold prayer, and God granted it. It has become a prayer many pray for blessing, for wider influence, and for God's protecting hand.

Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me. Lord, be with me today. Widen the good I am able to do, keep me from harm and from causing it, and let your hand rest on all I set out to do. Amen.
