A Grace Before Meals

Before you eat, a moment of thanks turns a plate of food into a gift received. This is a short grace to pray at the table, alone or with others.

Gracious God, thank you for this food and for the hands that grew and prepared it. Thank you for the good gifts of this table and for the people around it. Bless what we are about to receive, and make us truly grateful. Feed our bodies, and feed our hearts with your love. And help us remember those who have no bread today; make us generous with what we have been given. In your name we give thanks. Amen.
