A Prayer for Thanksgiving

Around a table or on your own, gratitude opens the heart. This is a short Thanksgiving prayer to give thanks for the year and the people in it.

Gracious God, in everything we give thanks, so today we simply say thank you. Thank you for this food, this table, and every face around it. Thank you for the year behind us, for the joys and even for the hard roads you carried us down. Thank you for the people we love and the roof over our heads. Forgive us for how quickly we forget. Make us truly grateful, and make us generous, so our thanks becomes kindness to others. We bless your name. Amen.
