A Prayer for Someone Who Hurt Me

Praying for someone who has wounded you is hard, holy work. This is an honest prayer for someone who hurt you, and for your own heart in it.

Lord, you know what this person did and how deep the hurt still goes. I will not pretend I am not angry. But you asked me to pray for those who hurt me, so here I am, doing the hard thing. Soften what is bitter in me before it takes root. I do not have to carry the debt; I hand the justice to you. Where you are willing, work in their heart, and in mine. Free me from this weight, and teach me, slowly, to forgive. Amen.
