A Prayer for Doubt

Faith and doubt often live side by side. This is an honest prayer for the days when belief feels hard.

Lord, I want to believe, but today my faith feels thin and full of questions. I say the honest prayer of the desperate father: I believe; help thou mine unbelief. Meet me in my doubt without shame. You are not afraid of my questions, so let me bring them to you instead of running from you. Hold on to me when my grip on you loosens. Show me enough to take the next step, and let my faith, tested, come out stronger. I am still yours. Amen.

And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
