A Prayer for Depression

When the heaviness will not lift, you can pray even the shortest, most honest words. This is a gentle prayer for depression. It is a companion, not a cure; please reach out to a doctor or counselor too.

Lord, I can barely find the words today, and even praying feels heavy. But you are near to the brokenhearted, so I trust you are near to me now, even when I cannot feel it. Sit with me in this darkness. Carry what I cannot carry. Give me strength for the next small thing, getting up, eating, reaching out to someone. Send me help through people who care. Hold on to me on the days I cannot hold on to you. I am still here, and so are you. Amen.
