A Prayer for Anger

Anger, left unchecked, can burn the people we love. This is a short prayer to bring your anger honestly to God and let him cool it.

Lord, anger is burning in me, and I can feel it looking for somewhere to land. Before I say something I cannot take back, I stop and bring it to you. Help me be quick to listen and slow to speak and slow to become angry. Show me what is underneath this, the hurt or the fear, and heal it. Do not let the sun go down on my anger or let bitterness take root. Trade my heat for your patience, and guard my words. Give me your peace. Amen.
