A Prayer for a Grieving Friend

When someone you love is walking through loss, words run out. This is a short prayer for a grieving friend, to pray when you don't know what else to do.

God of all comfort, my friend is grieving, and I feel helpless beside their sorrow. Draw near to them the way only you can, closer than I ever could. Comfort them in the sharp moments and the long, quiet ones. Hold the weight they cannot carry, and let them feel that they are not alone in it. Give me wisdom to know when to speak and when to simply sit with them. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Comfort them, Lord. Amen.
