A Prayer Before Surgery

The hours before an operation can be full of fear. This is a short prayer for before surgery, to pray for yourself or for someone you love.

Lord, my heart is anxious as this surgery draws near, and I bring that fear honestly to you. Steady the hands of the surgeons and everyone who will care for me. Guide their skill, guard against every complication, and let your peace fill this room. Where I am afraid, be my courage. Where I cannot be in control, help me rest in your care. I place this body, and whatever comes next, into your keeping, and I trust you with it. Amen.
