A Prayer for a Sick Loved One

When someone you love is unwell, it is hard to sit with your helplessness. This is a prayer for a sick loved one, to pray at the bedside or from far away.

Merciful God, I bring to you the one I love who is sick and afraid. You see them fully, and you love them more than I do. Ease their pain and quiet their fear. Give wisdom to the doctors and nurses, and let your comfort fill the room. Where I can only wait, teach me to wait in trust. Hold them through the long hours, and hold me too. Amen.
